Capturing the rock passion and style of the past but with a compelling original twist is no easy feat. Enter US rock outfit RYDER, simply pairing the strength of their songwriting, with the depth and appeal of their leading vocalist, across a rather faultless rock soundscape that naturally compliments both.
Queen Viper’s Kiss is an easy gem of a rock track to get on board with. The concept is fairly classic but just original enough to stand out in memory – the metaphor meets the needs of rock and roll, and the darker depths of the melody and set-up help blur the lines somewhat between performative flair and something a little more grunge-like.
That balance is key, and the song as such works its magic in a fairly bold and satisfying way – with sensational-guitar play, live bass and drums, to top it all off. It’s quirky but it works, and Ryder introduce themselves on a defiant high with this release.
