Puerto Rico’s rising RnB voice JUIC3 captures a romantic edge and dynamic artistic charm this year, with the vocal fluidity and unique central concept of Love Away.
Featuring rap powerhouse Kap G, Love Away carefully intertwines two leading voices, blending melody and softly spoken rap, across an ethereal and ambient arrangement; with a subtle trap rhythm. The softness is key, the echoing voice of JUIC3 adding a dreamlike guiding light, and this title and hook resounding in a clever and memorable fashion.
Achieving a seamless meeting between mainstream accessible and alternative, even quirky songwriting, Love Away is impressively catchy and also original by nature. The song begins with a back and forth between the two artists, and concludes with its hook and title – an interestingly unresolved tune, somewhat lingering on the higher note, as if to represent the uncertainty and opposition to giving their love away.
The track later allows each performer to take the stage with a little more conviction and story, and that progression in full works beautifully, letting Love Away mark a key turning point in the JUIC3 journey and rise.
