JOSH FR3DA holds nothing back with this album release – the opening song alone simply listing a series of poignant topical references. The very sentiment of being Openly Open is boldly explored, through an indie rock style both smooth and energised in equal parts.
We’re almost in a kind of nineties pop territory, in a way – I’m reminded slightly of Take That, or George Michael. The songwriting and hook, however, gift a fresh sound and modern style, and JOSH FR3Da builds further upon this, throughout the Turn Him Loose project.
Eight songs make up the album, with Turn Him Loose the title-track offering a much more fast-paced outpouring of lyrics, and telling a story less abstract and vague, more rooted in scenes and country-like intentions.
It’s a great song, another huge hook, and still that subtle twist of personality runs throughout all things JOSH FR3DA. The album makes and breaks its own rules quite consistently, but does so with charm and style.
