Jaylon - Baby Boy EP - Stereo Stickman

Jaylon Baby Boy EP

-

Lighting up the space with euphoric afro rhythms and gentle vocal melodies, Nigerian-born artist Jaylon, more recently based out of an ever-eclectic and creative Bristol, delivers an uplifting six-track EP that’s both stylistically relevant and artistically fresh.

From the opening instrumental warmth and light vocal character of Stay Ok, we’re introduced to a thoughtful style – professionally crafted but intentional from a writing perspective, and that quality makes all the difference amidst the current landscape.

This continues to connect as the EP rolls along, Nufftime more classically RnB but still romantic in its contemplation and intimacy. Meanwhile the Jaylon voice, non-confronting but smooth and capable, provides a distinct calling card, across a playlist that’s subtly diverse and loaded with modest hooks.

Bringing the energy later on, and once again showcasing a hint of nineties garage influence form the UK scene, Jaylon’s No Luck keeps that global world-music fusion at the forefront, but it’s as subtle and stylish as ever. The songwriting and performance, the overall vibe, remain central to the embrace of the music, and this level of social awareness and relevance should make for a seamless gateway into the popular realm.
