Jack Flint - Dirty Road - Stereo Stickman

Jack Flint Dirty Road

-

From Sea Gods to the solo life, Bolton-born musician and rock artist Jack Flint captures a moment quite beautifully, with the raspy vocals, short lines and smooth, soulful riffs of Dirty Road.

Instantly both alternative and catchy, Dirty Road is mellow to impassioned, with a stripped-back, reverb-soaked setting offering mellow drums and easy to alluring guitar play, as Jack Flint himself pours grit and vibrancy into the story and sound of the mix.

Contrast is crucial here, between the tones of each guitar part, and between the softer indie-rock verses and the almost Americana rock and roll peak of the hook. Then there’s the lyrics, vague but strangely relatable – the kind of writing that feels exceedingly personal and genuine, but also completely your own if you need it to be.

A fine introduction to a natural artist and performer, with a lush guitar sound and a certain stylistic simplicity to counter the lyrical depth or complexity that inspired it.

Jack Flint is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter with a natural ear for music that connects and moves an audience, and Dirty Road exemplifies that truth. Well worth a listen this year.
