goodtoknow I’ll Stay

-

Lush organic grooves, intimate vocals and lyrics, all carefully paves the way for a deeply comforting five-track EP. goodtoknow present a collaborative impromptu musical space – a creative moment captured in time, live and spontaneous, from Mexico City, and it’s as humble and nostalgic as it is gorgeously calming.

We begin with the indie folk-pop tones and jazz-kissed fluidity of October, a quietly expressive voice and original melody elevating a softly enchanting story and scenes.

After this, the pace rises a tad, but the instrumental set-up and tone maintain the roots of I’ll Stay, the EP. The voice grounds things, these long-form sentiments and reflections feel both genuine and strangely relatable. Expect is upbeat but still delicate, a diary-entry celebrated in real-time by an optimistic musical arrangement.

The single release from this project is the impressively catchy and vulnerable Burn, a mellow indie-folk song with the same raw and honest central theme and revelations as much of the EP. The music is gifted plenty of time to connect with the listener, before the voice circles back for that intimate, lightly-paired indie realness, which is a pleasure to lose yourself amidst.

And as we finish, I’ll Stay wraps things up with a piercingly stripped-back acoustic and nearly whispered performance, with a stunning melody and conceptual conclusion that’s both moving and inspiring, and beautifully in tune with all that came before.

goodtoknow unites the talents of Paula Prieto, Benjamin Walker, and Sir Hope.
