UK indie rockers Black Lounge bring back the passion and quirky storytelling of a lost scene, with the long-form verses, sharp riffs and confident vocals of their iconic breakthrough single Bickering.
Noting a clear similarity to the early years of Arctic Monkeys, Black Lounge access a current gap in the modern music scene, with great vocals, clever lyrics, fresh melodies and smart guitar play. Their musicianship is second to none, their unity as a band undeniable, and the pace and presence of this track, the sheer tempo and their faultless delivery of it, quickly overcomes any nostalgic comparisons.
This is a fiercely impressive live band, with a great thread of songwriting and purpose to their sound, and Bickering is an easy to appreciate, engaging and, most importantly, boldly memorable original track. Well worth a listen this season.
