Written in the picturesque surroundings of the Scottish countryside, The Architect is a simple folk offering on the one hand, but evolves through a colourful pop arrangement of multiple vocals and an easy, resounding hook.
Poetic songwriting is key, finding a new way of framing a somewhat familiar sentiment or introspection, and then building a story and song around that central idea. The Architect encapsulates the value of that approach, quite literally in fact, and while the style is nothing ground-breaking, it doesn’t need to be. The songwriting is genuine, the voice softly blends aspects of folk, pop, and RnB, and the completed arrangement is essentially timeless for its crisp recording, instrumental warmth, and melodic satisfaction.
