Another call out to please, please draw your focus to the authentic artists, musicians and composers at this time – those who make music from their own fusion of qualities driven by the heart and mind united. The organic, the honest, and often – the unplugged.
What captured my attention with this release was the softness and live nature of the recording at first, but later, it was the somehow unique, and soothing, reflective nature of the melody. The weight of the keys takes you right to the fireside moment of Alex Solely’s playing, and Morning Thoughts inspires your own mind to wander in an equally hopeful, mildly uncertain fashion.
Simplicity is key, sometimes less is more, and Morning Thoughts is brief but rather divine to let fill the space around you. Alex Solely describes this track as melancholic, but in my view, it’s of such a carefully crafted presence, that the music can mean just about anything to anyone – depending on their mindset, or what they need from it.
Beautifully honest music, reminding you to step back and be still sometimes – to relax; take it all in, but not let it overwhelm.
