Sometimes artists have to abandon what made them successful, just to try to creatively stay afloat. You have to let the songs be what they’re going to be.

When creating an Alien Skin album I enter a self imposed impenetrable vault. I never ask for advice as this will most likely derail the creative process.
This is definitely the first trap-folk album in history. It wasn’t something I planned. It was something I was searching for and then found.
That’s the art behind songwriting; painting a detailed picture about what you’re trying to convey, in a way that makes your audience feel your conviction.
That moment when you get the record from the pressing plant, and put it on the turntable – this is the moment of truth. I’m always a bit nervous about it.
