UK rock three-piece Lois keep things authentic and engaging, with their electrifying fusion of nostalgia and anthemic songwriting, throughout the riff-strong high-energy album 67 Skies.

Over Rover is the introduction to the style, a quickly old-school hit with a rise and fall guitar and bass combination and classic punk outcry of short, snappy lines. That rise and fall extends through the melody, and the track follows an indie progression that’s refreshingly organic at its core. No fancy production, no filler, just real musicians having the time of their lives jamming together. We even get a playful guitar solo to break up the vocal movements.

As the album continues, it’s clear that there’s a welcomed versatility to the Lois style. G.S.F puts us suddenly in a kind of lower-toned, cinematic Americana realm, a varied vocal adding to that eclecticism that naturally gifts the band an interesting set. The lyrics further that appeal, and build strongly on the idea of this being an act well worth witnessing in the live setting.

Twelve original tracks make up 67 Skies, a project taking subtle influence from everything between the likes of The Doors, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles. The latter shines well within the fantastic and uplifting song The Golden Grenadier. Then there’s the outright highlight She Breathes for Just A Moment – a stunning song and a personal favourite from the album.

Ultimately though, Lois offer a fresh thread of songwriting and impassioned but relatable vocals throughout this project. It’s an indie gem of a collection, and an easy one to let drown out the noise of the world right now.
