From his brand new Good Times EP, acoustic folk songwriter Zachary Campos releases the ever-brief yet thoughtful Check – a song intimately blending the literal and the abstract, as a heartfelt celebration of the beauty of making music.
Forever grateful for the little things that make life sweet, Zachary Campos continues to express his feelings of appreciation for his family and lifestyle, through the revealing personal story-telling of Check. The song details Zachary’s love for being able to make a living from music – he performs at assisted living facilities, at wineries and breweries, and makes sure to appreciate the blessing that this is, each and every time he gets his check in the mail.
Presenting an honest two-layer production of just voice and acoustic guitar, Check was inspired by the birth of Zachary’s daughter Penelope, as well as by his partner Monique. The artwork was designed by jgmdesignss, and the track was produced by Josh Zuckerman. It’s an unmistakable format at this point, the stripped-back realism, the fireside honesty and warmth, and Check marks a fine example of the joyful simplicity of the Good Times EP.
An easy three chord strum, a vocal depth that’s distinct and calming, with short lines that follow a simple and memorable thread of melody – Check is an ode to the sheer pleasure of making music for a living. It emerges complete with a live performance visual, and comes in at less than a minute in full – another calling card of the always consistent Zachary Campos.
