Tommy Will Love Letters Melt in Arizona Summers

-

Timeless soulful production meets with a conscious and calm rap style – Tommy Will delivers the poetic beating heart of Hip Hop, with his iconic new EP Love Letters Melt in Arizona Summers.

We begin with the nostalgic crackle and piano-jazz ambiance of Letter to X, a stream of consciousness both focused and compelling as it relays the ache and honesty of this story. The music has a lo-fi study serenity about it, and the voice connects for its intelligent framing of ideas – introducing the concept for the project in a way that naturally leaves you keen to hear the rest of the journey.

Summertime guitar-work guides the second track, a faster-paced outpouring that relays a whole new story reflecting on the complexities of love. Want To Be Yours is passionate and addictive, captivating and uplifting yet scornful – loaded with pain and confidence united as a kind of immersive leader to assist us through the pain of heartbreak. Weave in the faultless flow, and a catchy hook alongside that distinct guitar riff, and this one feels like an easy hit.

Fast Food maintains the lo-fi chill energy of the production, but sets a fresh scene and injects a little electric guitar playfulness into an otherwise gritty relaying of scenes and a story that clearly still ring loud in memory. Great production again, versatile but in keeping with the project’s tone, and the lyrics as ever reach impeccable levels of expression and engagement. The details are personal but the mood and emotions are broadly relatable, making this entire project an easy must to lose yourself within when times get hard.

Wrapping things up is the keys-led quiet reflection of POF, another high-octane delivery of sharp and smart bars, but a mellow underlying production and some quirky references to level things out.

Tommy’s eclecticism and talent is defiant throughout this project, his voice and performative presence varying just subtly as per the changing stages of each scene. The project is entertaining, memorable, timeless, yet also lets you achieve some kind of clarity and understanding when it comes to separation and heartbreak. An impressive and fearlessly vulnerability collection of tracks.
