WOoodZ - Snow - Stereo Stickman

WOoodZ Snow

-

Sometimes a song just intrigues you enough with its sense of character and unexpected story that you can’t help but grow to love it. French trio WOooodz seem to have mastered that quality here, blending the mildly unremarkable with the outright unpredictably powerful, for an evocative and catchy indie hit with a clear sense of conceptual relevance.

Building up beautifully, the verses are quite simple and familiar for Snow, but as we move through the pre-chorus and towards the ultimate resolve of the hook, this authentic indie pop-rock offering gathers distinguished momentum, and in the process delivers an unrelenting earworm in the rising change and lyrical poignancy of ‘Got nowhere to escape, no place to hide from acid rain’.

Next thing you know we drop into a fully-loaded rock anthem, a moment that will no doubt spellbind fans at a live show, and all of a sudden we’re immersed in and rather addicted to the distinct and unmistakable sound of WOooodz.

Wonderful songwriting, humble but intentional, melodically sublime. I greatly look forward to hearing more of their music.
