Introducing quite probably his most likeable arrangements yet – Sonic Pulse Project capture a strong sense of colour, intention, and groove, with the brand new album Silent Frequency.
Setting the bar incredibly high from the outset, The Same Old Sun is an instant highlight, and a great way to open the project, with Fiber Optic Love following with further optimism and an equally upbeat style.
As you can tell from these titles, this project is far from surface-level stylistics. Sonic Pulse Project set out to explore the concept of searching to find genuine human connection and peace amidst the chaos of modern digital white noise. It’s an interesting and broadly relatable angle, brought to life by the stories and production choices alike that are made throughout the Sonic Pulse Project catalogue and this album in particular.
The 6th full-length album from Sonic Pulse Project, Silent Frequency is multi-layered and vibrant, meandering through ten new tracks inspired by pop-rock, pop, soul, funk and blues, with tracks like White Noise, Clear Voice adding a sultry moment of stripped-back swagger and self-reflection, and indie gems like Interference digging a little deeper and injecting higher passion and volume into the journey.
At every step, catchy hooks are the lifeblood of each structural work, and this album holds closely to a single vocal lead for integrity and implied connection. As we move into the likes of Satellite Heart, a piano ballad, that connection is all the more inherent, and another explosive chorus hits with all the more impact afterwards.
Magnetic North is incredibly cool and catchy in its rhythmic charm and satisfaction of resolve, while Closing The Distance is pleasant yet mildly melancholic with its rock twist and the conceptual clarity of excitement then comfort and coming home.
After this, we get a notable change of tone, with Signed By The Heart presenting as a neo-classical folk-pop offering that’s uplifting and light. The chorus wraps up a colourful progression well, and electronic harmonies help slowly but surely raise the warmth and energy of the piece.
Then finally, piano ballad expression returns, and Sonic Pulse Project move back to short, poetic images, and a striking reminder of the value of human intimacy and connection, as a central focus in an otherwise digitally extensive realm. The song is modest, gentle, familiar, and romantic in its drive to celebrate the need to cherish and appreciate the one you love.
It’s a welcomed end to the experience, and in true Sonic Pulse Project fashion, this final song makes sure to deliver one last impassioned crescendo of a chorus for the curtain call.
