Now, that voice is expanding to a new platform as The RaSun Report officially makes its radio debut on HB RADIO, bringing award-winning hip-hop commentary, cultural conversations, and a spotlight on the artists shaping Las Vegas and beyond.
For RaSun, the move to radio isn’t a departure from what he’s built—it’s the next chapter in a journey that began with a love for hip-hop cultivated thousands of miles from where the culture was born.
Spending his high school years in Korea, RaSun became determined to stay connected to hip-hop. Without the luxury of being immersed in the culture firsthand, he studied it through every resource he could find. Hip-hop magazines became textbooks, while cassette tape covers and CD liner notes offered an education that extended far beyond the music itself. Reading production credits, artist acknowledgments, and interviews gave him a deep appreciation for the people, stories, and history behind every record.
That curiosity eventually evolved into podcasting.
“My love for hip-hop and conversations about the culture inspired me to jump into podcasting,” RaSun explains. “Moving onto radio is a natural evolution because I get to bring that same passion to another platform, keep people informed, and give hip-hop the thoughtful coverage it deserves.”
Since launching The RaSun Report, RaSun’s priorities have evolved alongside the platform. While the early goal was simply earning time behind the microphone and building an audience, today’s mission runs much deeper.
“It’s no longer just about being heard,” he says. “It’s about creating value, preserving the culture, sparking meaningful conversations, and elevating local talent.”
That commitment has helped distinguish The RaSun Report from countless independent media platforms. Rather than focusing solely on mainstream headlines, The RaSun Report bridges the biggest stories in hip hop with the artists, creators, and movements happening right here in Las Vegas.
“What sets The RaSun Report apart is how it connects the biggest hip-hop news in the world to what’s happening right here in Las Vegas,” RaSun says. “A lot of platforms overlook what’s happening in their own hometowns. I make it a priority to spotlight independent artists who are putting in the work.”
Building that reputation didn’t happen overnight.
Like many independent creators, RaSun faced the challenge of building a brand from scratch while growing an audience and establishing credibility. Today, the obstacles have shifted. With podcasts and independent media platforms becoming more common than ever, standing out requires constant innovation.
“Everyone has a podcast or a platform today,” he says. “The challenge is keeping the content fresh, staying innovative, and maintaining that award-winning standard every single week.”
If given the chance to start over, there’s one lesson RaSun says he’d embrace much sooner.
“I would have trusted my unique perspective earlier,” he reflects. “Growing up overseas gave me a completely different ear for hip-hop. Early on, you try to fit into existing formulas, but my global lens is actually what makes my voice different.”
That unique perspective has helped fuel an impressive résumé. In addition to hosting The RaSun Report on HB RADIO, RaSun co-hosts The 5th Element Hip-Hop Podcast, an acclaimed show recognized with a Sin City Hip Hop Award and honored as Podcast of the Year at the 2025 Las Vegas Black Music Awards.
As his audience continues to grow, RaSun remains committed to helping the next generation of broadcasters and content creators. His advice is simple: master your craft before chasing attention.
“Don’t talk just because there’s a microphone in front of you,” he says. “Study your lane. Have something meaningful to say. Stay consistent, develop your own opinions, bring facts to the conversation, and always be genuine.”
For RaSun, success has never been measured by dollars or downloads alone.
“Success isn’t defined by money,” he says. “It’s about impact and longevity. When someone tells me an episode made them think differently, or a local artist thanks me for giving them a platform—that’s success. Leaving a lasting imprint on the culture and doing it my way is what matters.”
Perhaps that’s why launching The RaSun Report has been so rewarding. What began as a lifelong passion for hip-hop has become an opportunity to actively contribute to the culture he spent years studying from afar.
“I grew up watching videos, reading magazines, and soaking in every detail,” RaSun says. “Now I’m not just watching from the outside. I get to help shape the conversation in my own way. I love staying rooted in the culture and contributing to it without having to be a rapper or an artist.”
Now, with HB RADIO as its newest home, The RaSun Report is bringing that same authenticity, global perspective, and award-winning commentary to the airwaves.
