Hi Tiffany – what a pleasure, thanks for your time! To introduce things, where are you based, and how would you describe the music you make?
I am currently based in Brooklyn, NY. I would describe my sound as a unique blend of the 90’s and todays sound. I tend to draw inspiration from legends and artists who have been my favorites to listen to such as The Dramatics, The Temptations, Sade, Brandy, Jhene Aiko, Tink – just to name a few. I aim to create a sound that is both relevant and will have a lasting effect on the listeners.
You’re a professional producer, with an impressively extensive and versatile repertoire. How do you approach making a new track from scratch, and how do you choose who to collaborate with?
Well first and foremost I would not consider myself a professional yet. I am still a student and I am still learning new ways to better my craft. To answer your question. When I make a beat from scratch I determine what vibe I want to go for. I search through sounds from Logic Pro X stock plugins or beat packs that contains samples. I go through sounds until I find the one that fits the vibe I am looking for. And that’s when the fun begins.
I start building the beat. Once, the beat is done I typically already have in mind who I want on the beat and so, I reach out the artist in mind and the song is created.
You’ve stated in the past that your parents used to perform for their church and family gatherings – What was it about these experiences and the sound or feeling of Gospel that ignited such passion in you?
Witnessing my parents singing with such conviction in their voices and seeing my father playing the guitar and keyboard with such passion opened my eyes at a young age. What really made me take music seriously was losing my father. I knew I had to keep his legacy alive but I also knew I had to find my own lane.
My very first time playing the piano I felt an instant connection. At the age of 9, I began writing songs in my bedroom and at the time I was in the youth choir, then I moved up to the adult choir where I sang as a soprano and alto. I started to understand my purpose when it came to music.
“I started to perform my songs for my church and from there I fell in love with creating my music.”
Are you musically trained, or self-taught, and are there aspects of music you’d still like to learn and develop?
I am self-taught and there are a lot of aspects about music production I want to learn and new sounds I want to try out. The music scene is always changing and I want my sound to continue to resonate with those who enjoy listening to my music.
Is live performance an important part of your plans, and if so – what would be your dream event or venue to appear it?
No. Not at the moment. Creating music behind the scene is my main focus right now. I am focused on working with different artists and getting placements for Film/TV.
What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given?
The best piece of advice I ever received was given from my mother. She said “ You can not allow fear to block your blessings. You have a gift that God gave you use it and never let nothing or no one stop you.” She was my biggest fan and my #1 supporter.
What drives you to succeed, and what’s the best way people can support you?
What drives me to succeed is knowing I have to keep my promise to my mother who passed. She made me promise to never give up on my dream and that’s what keeps me going.
The best way to support me is following me on IG – @tiffanylovebeats, TikTok – @tiffanylovebeats.
