Undeniably authentic, mildly reminiscent of the acoustic rock sound of the nineties, but at the same time completely refreshing & hypnotically calming. A totally unique band right now, this album is something of a masterpiece.
Music
At the same time as appearing unusual, quirky even, there’s a definite touch of professionalism & well-crafted musicality, which makes it a dream to escape to.
The structure of this is everything, the sounds are unquestionable – the intro is peaceful & reflective, calming, but it’s the rising level of complexity, the increasing details, that really make this something special.
The effects make it feel as if you’re seeing something you shouldn’t be, leaked footage maybe, which adds to that element of drama & makes sense alongside of the song’s subject matter.
They are always short, the lyrics, always seeming like mere snippets of deeper thoughts or poems. It works within these high energy, ever-shifting soundscapes. You’d know a Gonetcha record after spending even just a little time with these songs.
The project in full is where the true beauty & strength exists. Forest Robots is a perfectly fitting name for an artist who crafts these kind of considerate & conscious arenas of music.
A self-proclaimed rock star with a fondness for rap music, though that’s something of an understatement. A heavy project, skillfully crafted, with volume, depth & delicacy. Worth exploring as the summer months grow closer.
Totally impressive at every moment, conceptually unusual & interesting, fantastic creative production all round, with flawless performances that add equal parts entertainment & depth.
You settle into the vibe of the exploration quickly. It’s refreshing, but not at the cost of clear skill. The music has a minimalist feel that lets you appreciate how flawless the vocal performance is.
The music is stunning, there seem to be equal parts drama & stillness – the dreamlike & the heavy-hearted come face to face; making you feel at peace & uncertain & energized, all at once.
This meeting of personal reality & the cinematic world of horror works well. The soundscape showcases equal parts of each – the screams, the fear, the detail, and the undeniably emotional, dramatic leading voice.
It’s a pleasure to get to embrace these original works. Hopefully many more people continue to discover & connect with them in the near future.
