Having toured with the likes of Beenie Man & Jimmy Cliff, Mullings’ experience & connection to the arts is unquestionable. On this track, his skills meet with the simple good vibes of the reggae genre, bringing together a free-flowing guitar solo & a lightly uplifting soundscape.
What appears at first as a fitting and simple addition to the world’s hip hop, later evolves to be something more of a connection to a thoughtful, skillful individual – something fresh to find solace in.
The whole EP has a stunning smoothness to it & in fact, to listen in full is to get the feeling that this is all part of a single thought or feeling. There’s only six minutes to make your way through, but when it ends, you feel the loudness of that silent void quite intensely.
HeRo’s ability to explore ideas & storylines in a clever, artistic, rhythmic way, is immensely impressive. At the same time, he pours heart & soul into his performances, adding even more value. As if the nostalgic artwork for the album isn’t enough to get you pressing play, a promise of the worth within hopefully will.
For those who remember the wonderful artist and songwriter that was John Denver, this three-part video release from The Roving Apatosaurus is certain to offer a welcomed and beautiful ode to those memories and to a song that has such a powerful connection to history.
It’s no easy feat for an artist to simply sit with an acoustic guitar & captivate an audience with his words & melodies. Will Adams seems to achieve this every time though. This album is one that calms you down to the point of deep thought & genuine self awareness.
The piercing hit of each synth & riff works incredibly well in sending those uplifting shivers that energize & inspire. The whole thing rains down around you in the way that authentic, effective dance music should.
If you can think back to the days when mix-tapes were exactly what they promised to be, this is the kind of raw & real outpouring you’d hope for. Every artist on this project puts something immense into the work, and the music backs up & supports the strength of the flow & the creative, professional arrangement of ideas.
The simplicity of the piece is beautiful, it works for you without drawing too much focus to the artists. Other than the clear skill that’s gone into crafting it, the experience isn’t about anyone but you. It’s music for the music fan, and it works gorgeously in this way.
The set-up is superb, the music and the vocals are so united that it feels like a work of art, and genuine too. You can feel the emotion and the difficulty as the performance pours through.
There are bars here, clever lines and soulful deliveries, as well as a clear connection to the art form and to this musical soundscape. The perfect kind of vibe to see you through the remaining quarter of 2018.
