Prior to the release of their long-awaited album, The Kelly Bell Band burst onto the 2019 scene with a brilliantly vibrant and beautifully upbeat blues-rock classic entitled Long Train.
Boo Cat is alternative, for sure – appealing for its edgy weirdness & the way the music & the voices do whatever the hell they need to. At the same time, the melody is undoubtedly something of an ear-worm – I’d be surprised if anyone could walk away not humming at least one line from the song.
Having spent several years steadily working his way up in the music world in the US, the latest track from Kilo M.O.E is perhaps the New Jersey born artist at his best.
The band create complex & provocative soundscapes around you, occasionally making you forget the instrumentation of it & consider this far more of a producer’s catalogue.
I have learned to take a “best of both worlds” approach to my music being that I’m both a Nigerian & an American. The traditional African rhythms are present with the modern afro-pop sounds, mixed with soul & other contemporary genres.
This is exciting music that throws everything onto the table & does so with style & depth. You’ll recognise their music after listening to just a couple of songs, though the album in its entirety is where the real experience lies.
This sort of composition and performance makes for the perfect pop-breakthrough track, relevant & well built, authentically performed, indicative of an eclectic artist on both sides.
The soul that comes through seems effortless & natural, the performance expresses the emotion of the moment beautifully.
