This sort of creative work deserves to be & is indeed the most effective when it is listened to in full. You don’t need multiple sources to make up an escapism or meditation playlist when you have something that has been so considerately & skillfully crafted.
Trip-Hop
This collaboration between Canary Islands’ producer Sabina Dream & Connecticut’s Siete Plagas just oozes those easy going summer vibes – the sort we’ve been craving as we turn the corner away from the colder months.
The music is powerful, floating along somewhere between indie-pop & trip-hop, keeping the mood light initially but offering just enough of that crispness – the edge of the beat, the evolving sense of weight.
Aurora has an addictively peaceful & inspiring ‘aura’ about it (for lack of a more relevant word). It’s consistently interesting, and it lets your mind wander so far from your current reality.
The song is all at once delicate & striking, allowing you to escape into the music & the moment if you choose to, or redirecting your thoughts entirely as you witness this soulfully prominent voice delivering these unexpected lyrics.
I’ve learned to stop trying to be famous &instead d enjoy being an artist. My dream is to lose the day job & go on small-town tours, play in the evenings at the local VFW, then go off to the next town. I’d like to do that sooner rather than later.
An EP that creates a wonderful groove & a string of easy going soundscapes for its audience. The underlying concepts intrigue & the passion with which they’re delivered really adds to this air of thought provoking mystery.
A powerful collaboration & a totally unique EDM track that’s easily recognisable once you’ve stumbled upon it. The perfect piece to play at full volume as the summer nights make their way towards you.
You don’t come across complete albums that are quite so pretty & haunting & unexpected as this, the last couple of times were when Half Moon Run first emerged; MGMT before this.
Hone your personal sound around what feels the most true to you. Your surroundings, where you grew up, where you travel to, the places & people you reach out to for inspiration or enlightenment, the feelings you experience. All of these things shape who we are.
This is exciting music that throws everything onto the table & does so with style & depth. You’ll recognise their music after listening to just a couple of songs, though the album in its entirety is where the real experience lies.
At the same time as appearing unusual, quirky even, there’s a definite touch of professionalism & well-crafted musicality, which makes it a dream to escape to.
