P.M.K.S have crafted this one with care. As far as Christmas songs go, this is undoubtedly one of the more easy to access, humble, enjoyable releases to date.
Americana
While the sound of this project has a fairly classic feel by nature, there are several ideas that offer something a little left of the expected. Anderson’s story telling & his own honesty & often vulnerability fuse beautifully to lead the listener through a series of deeply thoughtful, poetic moments.
Driving under the label of ethnic country music, Lost Highways bring together elements of country, folk, and middle Eastern musicianship throughout their releases, often taking on classic songs & throwing their own energy & style into the process.
Smooth & strong vocals lead the way, drawing you over initially with a spacious, near-acoustic musicality – a gorgeous guitar part – and a series of lyrics that paint a picture of overcoming & moving forwards.
Sack Of Lions offer that beautifully wholesome Americana sound with a folk-rock back-bone that allows them to really pour their souls into what they do. For those who are new to the band’s music, Callin’ For Rain is a great place to start. The song feels immediately organic, a real-time performance or at least as close as you can get from the other side of the globe.
Nick Miller’s music throughout this new release lights up the room in a phenomenal way. He’s fused classic rock solos & rhythms with a partly dreamlike ambiance – and has done so in a heartfelt, passionate & powerful manner.
While the song works well as a piece of art in itself, the artist at the heart of it is undoubtedly the thing that gives it further appeal. CannonBall is a great song, made greater by a more than worthy artist at its forefront.
Make sure to find the time to listen to this EP in full. Carl Lorusso Jr. has that special something that music fans have missed lately – this organic, soulful, natural ability to embrace & entrance the listener. Feeling all at once familiar & fresh, the songs brighten your view of modern music & remind you of the wonder that still well & truly exists.
Chris Ising gives country music a blues-rock revamp with this latest single Stomp. The title matches the content pretty well, the song bursts into the room with distorted weight and melodic vibrancy – alongside of a clear and consistent energy level perfectly well designed to uplift and motivate.
The relationship & the descriptive nature of the lyrics at the heart of the song shout out for positivity & hold close to a blissful view of the world. As a modern day love song, it’s refreshing – classic yet new, poetic & accessible, and surprisingly (refreshingly) upbeat – the perfect contemporary country single to be shared between lovers.
The intro paves the way with power, the verses fall back a little, then the hook smashes onto the stage with absolute vibrancy & weight. And when you consider the delivery, you genuinely notice & appreciate how effective the singer is at meeting the requirements of each of these moments.
Roses and Cigarettes fuse thoughtful, heartfelt songwriting with stunning vocals and expressive guitar work, and this EP is a must for genuine music fans far and wide.
