Featuring crisp, clean, soulful vocals, feeling straight out of a nineties emo-rock outfit, and a soundscape that leans back and forth between acoustic delicacy, theatrical scene setting – complete with a spoken monologue – and dreamlike electronic ambiance, the song is unlike anything else you’re likely to stumble upon of late.
I did some research on Padana and he has an incredible backstory which makes this album’s achievements even more remarkable than I impart here, but you should check that out for yourselves, as it shouldn’t detract from what the music (notably) delivers alone.
The whole thing is subtly powerful, entrancing for its sense of space and colour, and the heavy contrast between that and the tiredness and melancholy in the lyrics.

Peter Sirah drives with a thick bass-line and a clear-cut, clean and up front rap vocal – two simple yet striking elements that draw you right into the centre of this new single.
Her voice alone has so much character that you can tell this will last if the songs and the performances keep coming. On top of that though, the songs on this album offer something pure, honest, and deeply considerate – a set of qualities that are so valuable, and well worth holding onto once you find them.
Aratrea have found a style of their own in the modern music world. Characterful vocals and a unique, unpredictable melody feel mildly reminiscent of the likes of New Radicals, fusing in an unorthodox fashion with cascading electronic synths and contrasting dashes of rock and roll grit.
