What a joy this is to discover. Just four songs full but overflowing with uplifting melodies, riffs, harmonies & hopefulness. The Pasadena Sessions is a gorgeous little collection of songs from a thoughtful, talented folk-pop artist & songwriter.
The song has been superbly well crafted. Despite the electronic edge of the music, the humanity of the piece is unquestionable. The leading voice has a mellow sense of wondering & passion, carrying the song’s sentiment brilliantly.
The ambiance is multi-layered, motivational, expressive, detailed, and on top of this – the song itself is smooth, well performed, characterful, and offers a fresh take on relationship struggles.
Softly bringing together the emotion of soul music & the smoothness of RnB, this is a fairly minimalist, dreamlike song that lays its melody, ambiance, and sentiment before you in a subtle yet captivating way.
This is definitely one of the more interesting & genuine pop releases of recent years, and that’s not at the cost of quality – far from it. These songs are supremely well polished. Celeste Buckingham is making waves & it’s no wonder why.
The music builds from something quite mellow into something that is much more emotionally loaded & passionate – complete with chaotic drums & a freely wandering guitar solo.
The movement of this single has a fairly classic feel to it, almost like a long lost hit from yesteryear, the sort that can easily be rediscovered & reintegrated into your modern day playlist.
The RnB style melody that plays the part of a verse section adds a new dynamic, the instrumental breaks are well placed, and without question, you only need to hear the single once to remember it indefinitely.
The sound is sublime, the playing is clever, intricate yet not overly flashy & far from noisy. The lyrics tell a story of love in some new, unexpected way, and this is the final piece of the puzzle.
That’s how I felt when people criticised me, at times for no reason: an Antichrist, ‘the bad guy’. It also symbolizes the dark side of fame, of performing & putting yourself out there. Fame is a bit like a demon, disguising his dark side to lure you into some sort of ‘dreamland’.
