3mind Blight toys around with the art-form, with the writing, the effects – the song is partly for all of us, accessible and vague, yet certain moments within the verses take the form of a personal deep-dive into the artist’s own past and his role within this world.
Even with the eclectic and unpredictable nature of the music on this project, the lyrics are by far the most compelling and fascinating thread throughout it. Prepare, if you can, to feel heart broken, enlightened, uplifted, calmed, and concerned – all within the hour.
Ev Young takes the synth-driven pulse of summer-time EDM and fuses it with a notably trip-hop inspired ambiance and a reverb-soaked vocal melody for this single – all of which paints a smooth, calming audio experience around the listener.
Shreya Preeti leads with a smooth and soulful vocal on this alternative pop-RnB fusion single Junkyard. The track, or at least the live version, offers an organic musicality that’s refreshing to witness – the performance in full is of a supremely high quality, and there’s plenty of passion connected to the moment throughout.
Breaking Away is an immense joy to escape within. The sort of song that begs for you to turn up the volume, and quickly becomes addictive and close to impossible to forget about.
The very idea of What It Is is to address those fine qualities that mean so much to us but that aren’t always easily defined by language alone. Jimmy Lee Morris does a grand job of addressing and expressing this by means of a lightly colourful and easily recognisable new song.
