RnB
Forever may be a complex piece, but it flows by in an effortless swathe of colour and skill. It doesn’t sound quite like anything else out there, and yet also sounds familiar. Now that’s a tricky balance to strike, and deserves some recognition.
Perhaps one of their most simple yet subsequently memorable, recognizable singles to date, The Keymakers impress as ever but cross over into beautifully uplifting new realms with this powerful release.
Pouring through with a crystal-clear yet delicately dreamlike soundscape and beat, C Williams’ new single sets the mood from the offset, and proceeds to offer the intimate anthem for lovers that summer 2020 has been calling out for.
Episodic, ever-shifting and compelling, Deeper Than has a lot going on. This can drown some tunes, but this is an example of how to do complex without blowing it. A great collaboration with a great atmosphere.
The completed experience kicks in like an addictive nineties RnB track given a fresh, contemporary edge or re-awakening. Really nicely done.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. So whether the colours have fallen away, or are about to fall – any day now – the EP encapsulates that state of change, that calm before the storm.
Stylishly blending ambient, cinematic sound design, with smooth vocals & poetic, personally reflective story-telling, DRAMA/QUEEN is a haunting & addictively immersive track – the perfect way to kick off this re-emergence of SUNDERWORLD.
The single hits with a little of that empowering confidence and vocal supremacy that once made waves through the likes of Christina’s Beautiful. Here we get a funky vibe though, a notable level of optimism, and a singer who seems to belong to a rare style these days.
“It really feels like a way to express the way these two different sounds and cultures have shaped who I am today and continue to do so.”
“SpeedRacer featuring Dizzy Wright & Nikko Dator is being released this week on all streaming platforms. It’s a high energy track that’s great to play to get hyped up. You can grab an early copy on my Bandcamp page.”
Simple is a compact, cool and restless 3 minutes that’s as fresh as you like and over too soon.
