Repeat listens reveals a thoughtful episodic structure lashed together with a chugging 80s heart that allows modern yet dramatic vocals to flutter and shimmer high above. It’s fun, and also comes across as strangely sincere in its unabashed openness and primary-colour aesthetic.
I’m reminded of the quality and spirit of Joni Mitchell throughout certain phrases of Mockingbird, and I’d like to think that Alpha cat would approve of such a comparison – as she’s something of an ‘alpha cat’ herself. A very clever song, with memorable lyrics and a very deliberate production.

What starts out as a fairly simple, nostalgic and deeply introspective track – mellow emo-rock from the nineties comes to mind – soon evolves into a uniquely creative piece, which stylishly balances the delicacy of indie-pop with the absolute grit and roar of metal.
The vocal adds just enough to capture the hearts of pop fans, and the rest weaves its originality and its instrumental web around listeners for that alternative, dance-inspired edge.
Not My World makes for a rather stunning introduction to the band, their sound is immediately powerful, melodic yet hard-hitting, and musically masterful in every way. Delicate synth riffs meet with heavy distortion and a series of captivating performances that prove increasingly impressive as things progress.
Rasha has created some intelligent, fantastic support for her voice in this spacious production. Instruments are stabbing their different colours at the canvas to create splashes of interest providing the backdrop to the main event, which is absolutely Rasha’s lead vocal.
