I think the song is really an anthem for single people with texting anxiety. I guess its purpose is to make people not feel so alone & encourage them to laugh at themselves to overcome this anxiety.
As Walt Disney said ‘If you can dream it, you can do it’. There is no 100% sure way to success. Everyone must find his own way. The most important thing is to find your own sound & build your network.
I think people connect to a song when it says something that is a base human experience that a lot of people can relate to but says it in a slightly different way that touches the heart or mind.
I want people to see I’m real. I’m not out here making shit up for 15 minutes of fame or to come off as provocative or fake. I want people to see how original I am. I don’t think anyone makes music like mine that I’ve heard – I’m my own biggest fan so I’m always going to make music I’d listen to.
The live performance is what makes a band ‘real’. The studio is not about real human beings doing anything extraordinary. It’s the careful crafting of symbols & dreams. The real ritual where blood is shed & minds are forever changed; that’s live performance. That’s where you begin to really, truly believe.
I am scared to death of live performances, and I don’t do it that much. Recording process depends on the people I am working with. If you connect as an artist to your producer, the process is easy.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with the most incredible team of people & something they always say is how important & admirable it is to stay true to yourself in an industry like the music world is today.
Our music is meant to make you reflect on the best times of your life & why they we’re so good. If we can do that for even one person listening, it’s a huge success in my book.
More people need to have that drive to say ‘this too shall end’. More people need to wake up each morning, even when they don’t want to, and kick that day’s ass. Accomplishment, personal courage, is the greatest cure for depression.
