All my instruments have names. I’m giving my son trumpet lessons & he asked why my trumpet & flugelhorn have names. I had to laugh, but I told him that Herm & Jessie put on a show.
My rehabilitation therapist said that I would recover quicker if I would sing a lot. I enjoyed it so much and my voice recovered very well.

One by one I found traditional songs that I thought worked well with my solo piano arrangements. Those are the ten songs that ended up on Toyland.
I think it’s really easy to see through a song that doesn’t come from an honest place, and to me it’s a turnoff. I do my best to write in a way that every word is exactly what I mean to say.
Every song is different. But usually one of us will come to the other with a riff, or a verse, or a chorus, or just some part of a song, or even just a weird synth sound or something, and then we’ll both work together on making it a whole cohesive song.

Hurricane Irma was the worst hurricane I’ve ever been through. This experience has left an indelible mark in my memory. Personally, it made me even more resilient, more fearless. As an artist, I am more focused towards realizing & manifest my dreams. I cannot wait any longer. I must pursue this dream now.
It’s a richness to have practiced all kinds of music, but still have your unique & recognizable own sound. There was definitely a change in my life at the age of 26. There’s something with that number.
