All-in-all, it’s a heady concoction that lends itself to repeat listens. It’s hypnotic, confident, woozy and classy. And that’s got to be a mix worth checking out, right?
Starting off in rockabilly, Pale Blue Dot is a highly accomplished, heavy-concept tune that’s all about feel.
TexMex Shaman’s return this month brings an explicitly unique cover of a summertime classic. In his own words, when approaching this yesteryear hit from The Commodores, TexMex Shaman tried to ‘keep the soul and change the shoes;’ a brilliantly fitting phrase that actually perfectly well encapsulates the journey you’re about to embark upon.
Dan Loller sets the mood beautifully with this single, slowly but surely crafting a mildly psychedelic, expressive rock soundscape around you. Delicacy and distortion intertwine skillfully, paving the way well for what is a notably poetic and thoughtful song.
Everything from the narrative, to the music and vocals has been meticulously crafted to enhance the storytelling in an invigoratingly novel way. It’s a triumphant beginning and one that makes me excited for things to come.

This new release from The Striped Bananas is a re-working of their first album from back in 2012, with a few new additions. There’s perhaps a more raw, classic progressive rock feel to this one than last year’s project.
Eclecticism is defiantly a part of this project, but even so – you get a feel for the progression, the voices, the style, the subject matter. The band have something that is their’s, and that’s exciting.
These poetic, reflective moments express a particular perspective that provokes thought. The accompanying music supports & enhances this sentiment superbly.
The leading vocal presents a sense of individuality & realness, the latter of which comes unexpectedly among what is a fairly psychedelic soundscape.
