Many of us are finding ourselves thinking a little more deeply on the world & our roles within it these days, this kind of music & indeed art helps in making that process feel less overwhelming – even in making you feel less alone.
Hip-Hop
Absolutely the best of his work to date – a uniquely interesting & addictive track that ticks a whole lot of boxes. The sort of song that speaks out for you or offers so much vulnerability & humanity that you can’t help but connect with it & feel what it portrays within.
Chris B loads this track up with personal truth and a level of angst-filled expression – giving the release character, but also the potential to connect with hip hop fans who turn to the genre as something that will scream out on behalf of those issues they’ve been bottling up.
Artdayn has made sure to write a piece that flows like crashing waves; relentless & always bringing in something slightly different or new. Alongside of this intense & memorable beat, it works well to make certain you know his sound & his style.
Dukki Boi as a rapper has the sort of nostalgic and natural vocal tone to really carry an appealing vibe within modern hip hop. As an artist in general, this single feeds further into that sentiment – making for something that quite genuinely feels as if it was a slept on hit from the dawn of the genre.
“I wanna let all the weird creative kids like me know that it’s cool to be weird and creative. And that art should be selfish, and if you only make art for money, then you’re a whore.”
Featuring a Fatboy Slim style of musical craft-work. The vibes are superb, each moment makes sense once it’s there, but never does any of this appear as the logical or usual next move – a quality you quickly come to love about Vox Eagle.
If I had to choose one artist that really pushed me to do what I am doing today, it has got to be the late XXXTENTACION. To see him come from nowhere, stand up & jump from an intricate rap verse to an anger driven screamo-like chorus, to a moving acoustic track – it was eye opening.
The subject matter is clearly something kept close at heart, you witness this roller-coaster-like journey through personal turmoil to acceptance & then back again. The use of contrast within the performance adds dynamic variation to an otherwise smooth & simply hypnotic piece of music.
POPMFS goes hard on this full-length EP, bringing hip hop fans some absolute classic vibes and some pretty unforgettable new tracks to embrace. Where Ya Been is the perfect opener, a high energy anthem with a melodic backdrop and a multi-vocal sense of togetherness.
Between the rap verses, the mellow tones, and the snippets of intense historical speech, the whole piece creates a powerful space and prompts the listener to think a little more deeply on the world around them.
Music helps.. Music changes the outcome of life and with a goal in mind can change the who, how and what we all become.
