This single is beautiful, it feels like the outro to some inspiring, important film. From the opening instrumentation, to the leading voice, right on through to every single lyric, you get an overwhelming sense of positivity & hopefulness.

This project is incredible, it deserves to be heard & enjoyed by many. You can escape entirely into these songs. It’s brilliant musicianship on top of gorgeously thoughtful, memorable songwriting.
Countdown To Sunset is an artist who deals with a number of human emotions in a way that lays bare the truth of each thought or feeling – highlighting, in an authentically pure manner, the imperfections that make up a life.
The song is beautiful & would settle in confidently as the ‘our song’ for any number of couples in love. It’s personal & emotional, but the imagery & ideas are quite vague – so these instances can be applied to many listeners.
There are numerous times throughout this project at which something completely surprises, really helping keep it appealing & enjoyable. This is an extremely personal, characterful album that also presents a lot of skill & thoughtfulness.
The lyrics offer a notably poetic string of images, a story that is slightly distant seeming, but that grabs your attention regardless. Certain lines stand out & further the haunting feeling – ‘I come to watch you die’ is a perfectly fitting example.
The artist’s now familiar & comforting leading voice delivers the sentiment & the various stages of the song in a perfectly delicate, genuine way. The soundscape showcases a lightly upbeat rhythm & folk-rock energy.
Sometimes a simple acoustic ambiance & a string of lyrics that matter or mean something are all that’s needed to make a song connect. If You’re Wrong, by artist & songwriter Richard James Grist, is an ideal example.
Suggesting or hinting at the concept of freedom within art or music is very different to entirely encapsulating it. ‘Free’ is the absolute perfect example of a song embracing entirely the concept at its core & successfully passing that feeling on to its audience.
The music is so easy going, it creates the perfect rhythm & ambiance to calm an audience, and Milhe’s vocal performance excels throughout.
The wait for an appropriately entrancing video for this particular single makes so much sense once you’ve witnessed the final presentation. The scenery & shots within are offered up in a distinctly natural manner, which makes it connect all the more intensely.
What a joy this is to discover. Just four songs full but overflowing with uplifting melodies, riffs, harmonies & hopefulness. The Pasadena Sessions is a gorgeous little collection of songs from a thoughtful, talented folk-pop artist & songwriter.
