Expect to stand back in awe at the sheer weight of contrast on this impressive new project from Anubis. Take the opening track GraveSites as a fitting example – an ambient and dreamlike backdrop floats through in stark juxtaposition with the pace and poetic complexity of the rap flow.
Albums
The entire album compiles these sonnets and sees Dzardanova pay tribute to a legendary creative by expressing her own inherently creative desires in reaction to that inspiration. It’s a brilliant idea in itself, and to hear it come to life in these recordings makes for a memorably unique listening session.
Magle showcases many different sides to his personality and his creative drive throughout the project, there’s no single word to explain the way the music works, or why -it just does, and defiantly so. A breath of fresh air and a pleasure to listen through.
Rikke’s writing and a her softly raspy vocals pour through among organic and uplifting soundscapes that are quick to calm the room. Absolutely worth a run through – a quality songwriter.
The music is far from simple, on the contrary – it’s complex and unpredictable; it’s jazz with grit, with sadness and unsettling energy, and it captivates in being this.
You can escape into this playlist and feel like it was worthwhile, like someone real built it for a sense of understanding – as well as through a clear love for music and performance.
To even have it cross your mind to create an entire album of music following the lines of a timeless poem such as this is incredibly rare & creatively free in itself. Peter Cavallo’s passion for music & the arts is limitless. This project is yet another that’s something of a dream to lose yourself within for a while.
There’s plenty more to hear and realise than a single listen can really allow most of us. An impressive and genuinely original project.
Frans Krans keep high energy punk rock alive and well with this memorably titled album Moby Cock. They’re likely to win you over, whichever song you choose – though the album in full is where the real fun lies.
There’s an entire cast of characters at play under the Pete Murphy artist name. Always a genuine treat to be entertained and indeed amazed by.
Jas Frank & The Intoits are a band with an enjoyably fresh sound right now. As this album progresses, you come to appreciate more and more qualities that give the band their edge.
The aptly titled project seems partly like an audio book on occasion, the music merely supports and enhances the underlying ideas presented by the conversations and spoken word segments within. As things progress, the band’s creativity and connection to the metal genre grows more and more apparent.
