To coincide with their immense September tour and the launch of the iconic The 4th Album, we caught up with The Record Company’s lead vocalist and guitarist Chris Vos, to find out more about the band’s journey to this point. Here’s how it went.
Rock
Carefully uniting the heavy and the gentle, Checo Cadena leads with powerful distorted riffs and the live crash of drums, through harmonised, uplifting melodies, and lyrics of pure gratitude and hope.
Superstar is the poetic and effortlessly catchy new EP, and the title-track kicks off the collection as an absolute anthem of celebration and empowerment.
Colourful chaos lifts the mood quickly, in brilliant contrast to the darker depths of the lyrics – I. Parter explores the concept of a melancholy and isolation, with the ten-track pop-punk album Misery’s My Company.
Featuring multiple layers of keys, synths, guitars, bass, drums and vocals, the fullness of Close Your Eyes tips its hat towards the likes of Muse, while the leading tone offers more of an eighties twist of influence.
Ambient, acoustic beginnings lay bare an intimate story of vulnerability and longing – Hazzard Inc. bring contemplation and ferocity together, for the ultimate emo-punk explosion that is nobody.
Given that BJJ is the fastest growing martial art in America, the need for some directly interconnected music and creativity seemed long overdue. We dig into that, plus what it is about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that brings people together so effectively, and plenty more.
Something profoundly unique now, to recapture any wandering minds – to provoke thought on both the topic and style of the music. Artist and musician James Cantey leads us by way of a haunting two-note piano part, into the chaotic electronic-rock and choir-like depths of Tonight.
Introducing a single that simply connected and impressed. French artist TIIBOZ captures the essence of soulful expression and contrast, with the creatively mighty new-metal and emotional melodic dance core of BURN.
Striking artwork and a unique fusion of contemporary emo and classic pop punk – Free Mace captures his own artistic identity, with the proudly atmospheric and revealing new album Better Off Bitter.
Darkly distorted rock blends a retro-electronic groove with upfront vocal mixing and Faith-driven lyrics. Jimi Nix presents a duo-led dynamic performance, throughout the strong riffs and catchy hook of The Devil’s Going Down In The End.
“Music has always been a significant part of my life; I picked up the guitar in high school, although I’ve had my ups and downs with it. I’ve enjoyed creating content on YouTube for years, primarily doing song covers. However, I ventured into writing original music toward the end of 2023, and it’s been an exciting creative journey ever since.”
INHALE feels like an alt-rock offering from a simpler time, those ethereal electric guitar riffs and the surrounding static blending beautifully with the vocal’s mysterious outline of reflections, before the energy switches gears immensely for the drop to the hook.
