The inspiration is different for every song. Most times it’s to cope or get closure on a traumatic event or season in my life. Other times, I write to capture a moment in time or describe a feeling.
Hard Rock
The Back Seat Redemption sound is distinct & characterful. These four songs in particular really showcase their drive as creatives & their abilities as musicians & performers.
Distortion is met with a musically satisfying set-up, so the more you listen, the more these various moments of impressive, skillful musicianship start to take hold. A huge song, intense, hard hitting, incredibly well written.
The Silver Bayonets get the conversation going in their own, hard hitting way. Cleverly, or ironically, there’s nothing fake about their writing. They don’t strive to lift you out of your lull with joyful chords & statements of ‘It’ll be alright’, they tell it like it is.
Phoenix/NEBULIN are an incredible band, they do what they do with absolute conviction & power. It makes for a stunning playlist – the sort you can return to again & again; whenever the noise of the world seems a little too disjointed or overwhelming.
Keeps you intrigued throughout, right through to the finishing, chaotic moment that is Never Die. The vibrancy & energy exemplify life, living; rock & roll.
The further you get into it, the more these moments extend and evolve, leading eventually into a classic and compelling guitar solo.
Why make music if it’s not with emotion & passion? I love hearing artists get out there & bring it. When they’re in their zone you can look into their soul.
It’s refreshing to discover a band bringing back the essence of passionate, unapologetic grit, and not at the cost of skillful or captivating musicianship.
The juxtaposition of the concepts of pride & shame is appealing. The music feeds this intrigue further & affectionately holds your attention.
A heavy yet crisp bit of hard rock. Structurally complex & thoughtful, complete with melodic verse sections, varied riffs & an undeniable level of passion.
Every song I write is the next chapter in my constant battle with my own feelings – as long as I have feelings, I will always have something to write about.
