New music from the unmistakable Big Bus Dream brings a clean and clear production, with those expressive and distinct vocals upfront and centre. It’s an emotive and uplifting ballad of sorts, with a twist of joyful pop-rock and playful production, and it marks a welcomed return to the songwriting finesse of the band.
Big Bus Dream
Created in direct response to the consistent rise of conflict and hate in the USA, Big Bus Dream releases the evocative protest single AMERICAN – an organic soft-rock arrangement and song reflecting on times past and the subsequent downward spiral of division and violence.
It’s a familiar concept, though not one often discussed in music – that of falling into a deep sleep, into a favorable and vivid dream, then waking and wishing to find that same realm and story once again.
Skilfully employing the power of contrast throughout, for a huge level of impact between this raspy and passionate pop-rock chorus, and the more spoken-word style of the stripped-back, quieter verses, Hear Me Roar reflects openly on a variety of topical and personal issues.
So many stand-out lyrics crop up throughout the project, and thanks to beautiful melodies and natural, peaceful arrangements, these connect on a profound level.
Big Bus Dream have arranged the single beautifully here, a softly jazz-kissed ambiance of organic layers – double bass, hand drums, subtle vocal whispers and warmth.
