Superb songwriting, nostalgic as ever but standing tall on the strength of contemporary reflections that speak to today’s world and its related feelings.
HARVEY
Harvey as a band have a somewhat humble and natural way with music, each new release is enjoyable, impressive, and further cements their authenticity as artists. This process happens slowly but surely, seeing them never fail to write something of depth, and still never resort to unnecessary gimmicks or quirks.
It’s a relationship song with a twist, and the switch from the melancholy verses to the hopeful hook – it’s not too bad – makes for something that resolves in a satisfying way.
The sound has a flawless melodic flow to it, so much so that it seems likely a live show would have you standing in awe at the purity and colour of it.
The heart of hip-hop is in the expression, the flow, the confidence and the character, and this is exactly what you see showcased on this release.
