Troy Petty Director’s Cut

-

Troy Petty has evidently mastered being musically true to his own artistic and expressive needs, offering up an album of original songs that pour through with absolute creative freedom yet a clear passion for and connection to the very process of writing and performing.

Comfort Zone is a superb song, the opening track on the brand new album Director’s Cut, and a fine introduction to Troy Petty if you’re new to his music.

Comfort Zone takes its time to kick in, showcasing from the offset an artist with a clear awareness of the value of effective structuring and artistic intention. Following this, the high energy hits with skill and emotion intertwined, and Petty’s vocal delivery follows a similarly complex yet captivating pathway – poetry and personal reflection meet to compelling results.

This approach continues throughout the album, seeing hints of influence from the likes of Placebo as much as some more traditional rock acts. Every song presents something new and interesting, creating fresh soundscapes and delivering fascinating poetic story-lines that are a dream to escape amidst and ponder the world within. I Am The Dark follows the opener, and things continue to engage and impress right the way through. A pleasure to stumble upon.
